OUR HISTORY

Village Parkway Baptist Church started as a church plant sent out by Castle Hills First Baptist Church in 1982. The church plant met in a local school cafeteria and eventually became an official church in 1984. By 1987, VPBC acquired the current property on the corner of Village Parkway and Culebra Road, completed construction on the initial church building, and built an addition to the building to house Sunday School classrooms. In 1989, the church finished construction on the current worship center and in 2009, finished the school building. Village has had four Senior Pastors and one interim pastor in its brief history. Jack Schmidt, Rueben Hernandez (interim), Roger Marsh, Dr. Steven Branson, and Dr. Ryan Carpenter began serving as Senior Pastor in October 2022. Village has a strong desire to see the good news of Jesus Christ shared with lost people all over the world. Therefore, Village is a participating church of the SBC and gives a portion of its annual budget to the Cooperative Program. For more information on the SBC Cooperative Program, please go to https://www.sbc.net/missions/the-cooperative-program. As an SBC church, Village agrees to abide by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, which is a broadly-accepted statement of faith containing “certain definite doctrines that Baptists believe, cherish, and with which they have been and are now closely identified.” You can find a copy of the BFM 2000 on our website at https://vpbc.net/ourbeliefs or at https://bfm.sbc.net/.

“OUR MISSION TODAY IS TO BECOME MORE LIKE JESUS TOGETHER BY SHARING CHRIST AND KNOWING HIM MORE.”
