What We Offer

We provide a time of activity and learning during Sunday School as well as child care for infants through age three in our "extended session" during Sunday morning worship. We also ensure child care is available for other church services and activities-see schedule in the right column

Sick Policy
We love all children God allows us to minister to, and we take our responsibility to care for them seriously. For the health and safety of all children in the nursery, please keep your child home if he/she has a green runny nose or has a consistent wet cough.

Please keep your child home if he/she has a high temperature (oral = 100.4 degrees or greater; rectal = 101.4 or greater; armpit = 99.4 degrees or greater) accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness until medical evaluation indicates that the child can be included in group activities.

If your child does have one of the above, he/she will not be permitted in the nursery. Thanks for your cooperation!

How Extended Session Operates
We have instituted a system that has enabled us to maintain the number of volunteers necessary to allow our child care department to be a safe and responsible one. We simply ask parents of babies or preschool-age children in the nursery to volunteer one Sunday a month during the "extended session" hour. Some people volunteer who do not have children of preschool age, while some families choose to make this their ministry.
A Place to Serve
We have a very blessed Children's ministry at Village Parkway. We see new members come, and, sadly, some leave due to moves or military obligation elsewhere. We find there is ALWAYS new opportunity for service. All you need is a loving heart and willing hands--we will train and support you. Below is a list of typical areas we need people serve:

Sunday School Teachers:  We teach preschoolers from infant through 3 years

Baby Greeters:  This friendly person receives babies for nursery and check them in; then, when church is over, this person collects babies from their class and returns them to parents after security tags have been matched.

Extended Session Workers:  This is the area in which we can ALWAYS use extra help. The schedule changes frequently and there are always openings in a number of age groups.

***Safe & Secure Training is REQUIRED for ALL individuals who wish to volunteer with any of our children's programs at Village Parkway.  For information on the next training session, contact the church office.

Nursery Worker Responsibilities
This serves not only as a reminder to nursery workers of their responsibilities, but also, as a notice to parents of the standards we hold. It is important that we keep our nursery neat, clean, and tidy so that the babies are comfortable and that parents are comfortable leaving their children in our care. We want to assure each parent that their child has been left in loving hands and that we are providing the best of care.

Please show up on your scheduled day. (Even though the ministry is made up of volunteers, each volunteer must remain faithful.)
Always arrive on time. (Sunday School teachers are waiting for you so they can get to church on time.)
Make a point to interact with the children. (e.g. play with them, read to them, be cheerful and make them feel loved, etc.)
Always check and change diapers! (We want all babies dry when we give them back to parents.)
Remember to wash hands after every diaper change and nose wiping. (This really helps prevent the spreading of germs.)
All toys played with MUST be disinfected before being put away. (Let's keep germ swapping to a minimum.)
Never leave food or drinks in your room. (San Antonio has a major ant problem and they find everything!)
Always leave your room neat and tidy so that it is ready for continued use.
Pray always for this ministry.
